So my baby started Kindergarten this fall. She was so excited, got up at 5am. I can't believe she is old enough to go to school, it seems like yesterday we brought her home from the hospital. Time really does fly. She was a trooper, so eager to be in school and not at all scared. I admit, I cried as I walked out of her classroom. I know she'll be fine and can totally handle this, but my baby is growing up. So one of the great things about her first day of school is that she got to wear the 'first day of school' dress. This dress is over 50 years old. My mom and all four of her sisters wore the exact same dress on their first day of school. Tradition is that you wear it that one day and that one day only and then it goes back into the closet for the next girl to wear. So when I went to kindergarten on my first day back in August 1982, I wore the dress, so did my sister and my other girl cousins as well. Now my baby is wearing the dress, it's been passed down to three generations. It's faded, a little tattered and has had to have some buttons replaced as well as a patch here and there, but overall, still in good shape. Enjoy these pictures from my baby's first day of school!
And here we are in our classroom!
Well, I guess what I've learned is that my baby is not so much of a baby anymore. She's turning into a big girl, taking the kindergarten world on. She'll do great, this I know. I can't wait to hear about her first day!
